The Event

Courting Trouble is rules-light megagame by Benjamin Kanelos of BK Games with a focus on melodrama, role-play, and interpersonal transactions/alliances/negotiations/trades/wedding proposals.

The megagame has been run over a dozen times since its premiere last year, due to its fun mechanics, unique thematic focus, and ability to marry a tortured-but-hot werewolf but not before you dump your lousy Vampire Princess fiancé.

The game will be held at a Lesbian bar but mature, respectful allies and non-lesbian queer folk are more than welcome.

The Setting

Romance + Fantasy = Romantasy

Pride & Prejudice + Lord of the Rings = Counting Trouble

Bridgerton + A Game of Thrones = Courting Trouble

Twilight + Chronicles of Narnia = Courting Trouble

Vampires and werewolves and fey, oh my! If you’re a fan of fantasy or regency romance novels (Twilight, ACoTaR, Fourth Wing, Bridgerton, etc.) and have ever wanted to be a character in one of those books, Courting Truble is the megagame for you! Team up with up to 5 friends and enter a fantasy roleplaying world brimming with romantic possibilities. Who’s heart will you pursue? What rivals will you challenge? What storylines will you create? The choices are yours in this sandbox game of courtship, intrigue, and adventure. The plot is for you and 20+ players to drive forwards in this rules-light roleplaying-heavy megagame.

Note: This is a ‘closed door’ romance game. No explicit sexual content will be a part of this game. Safety tools will be employed. No touching above the elbow!

The Deetz!

• The event will be held at Val’s Lesbian Bar and will be geared towards an LBGTQ+ audience, but mature, respectful allies and non-lesbian queer folk are more than welcome.

• Rules and roles will be distributed via email before the event. The rules will also be gone over at the start of the game for those who didn’t have time to read the rules.

• Cosplay welcomed and praised but entirely optional.

• Mature Themes. The game has major mechanics revolving around love, marriage, and attraction to each other. Immature players not welcome.

• Transit Details

  • Val’s Lesbian Bar is a ~30 min. bus/metro ride from both City Hall and 30th Street Amtrak Station

  • Street parking is competitive but will likely be available on a Wednesday night, but you may have to hunt

• Age Limit. 18+
